My son played in the playpen as I was working 12-hour shifts in sanding floors and removing wallpaper. Ha! It was beginning to be clear, but was far from completed. The project would require lots of time and money and shopping my favorite to furnish this home. There was a market in the area to let me sell my pieces. Then, my collection got so large that the room I had was no longer adequate. My home became a place where I would host open houses, where up to 1,000 people could view items from my first floor and purchase them. Growing Days was founded in my home. My business was booming, but my family was also growing. As a young mom I was able to strike the right balance to both start my own company and become a great mother. Growing Days just seemed to be the right fit. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora became our fourth child. I adored where my business was going, but I wanted some time off. I took a break from vintage furniture to spend more quality time with my family. This was precisely what I needed at the time. Within a couple of months, the phone began to start to. There were calls from people asking me to assist them in the interior design and renovations of their home. It was mostly those who visited my house for furniture. As I went along I added new customers to my client list each day. It wasn't too that long before I was managing multiple clients and ran a successful home remodeling business. I'm sure you would have made me laugh if I had told you that this was going to be the subject of an DIY Network tv series. It's fun to reflect about it.
